May 1, 2012 – GolfBallSelector.com completed testing on the new Innovex V-Motion and E-Motionand provides this review in our series of 2012 golf ball reviews.

The Innovex V-Motion and E-Motion golf balls are part of the Innovex Golf’s 2012 lineup. Innovex Golf, founded in 2004, made industry news in the fall of 2011 with the acquisition of Rife Putters.

Both golf balls feature a 3-piece construction. The V-Motion has a 318 dimple design with urethane cover while the E-Motion rolls out a 392 dimple design with suryln cover.

Here is a breakdown of the manufacturer’s stated player benefits according to Innovex*,:

V-Motion

• Compensating speed core that senses course swing speed for superior performance from any position. • Proprietary aeroblend soft cover with tour proven 318 dimple trajectory. • Cast urethane cover offering optimal feel with all your clubs for professional course management.

E-Motion

• Progressive dual motion core senses impact loft and velocity for great feel and extreme distance. • Proprietary aeroblend cover features parallel dimple dividers that smooth airflow for increased flight distance and stability while roll promoting dimples enhance putter feel and confidence. • Proven 392 dimple pattern offers tour caliber trajectory. • Stopspin technology with the inner mantle and soft cover designed to offer great spin control.

The V-Motion carries a retail price of $32.95 per dozen while the E-Motion carries a retail price of $19.95 per dozen.

The Innovex V-Motion and E-Motion will be included in the next release of GolfBallSelector.com.

Testing Approach

In testing and evaluation conducted by GolfBallTest.org, the Innovex V-Motion and E-Motion were subjected to bench testing for compression, cover hardness, weight and to player and robot testing using the driver, 6-iron and sand wedge.

Notable Observations

Player testing was conducted across a range of ball speeds on the V-Motion and E-Motion golf balls. Overall, the V-Motion exhibits spin and launch angle characteristics similar to the 2011 Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x, TaylorMade Penta TP5, Callaway HEX Black Tour, Bridgestone Tour B330-S and Srixon Z-STAR off all clubs (driver, 6-iron, and 56 degree wedge) from High and Mid ball speed levels. The E-Motion had substantially lower spin across all ball speeds off the 56 degree wedge, similar to the Top-Flite Gamer V2, Noodle Long and Soft, and Titliest Velocity golf balls.

Driver Testing:

The spin rate of the V-Motion was approximately 250-350 RPM’s lower than the Titleist Pro V1 and Nike 20XI-S across low, mid and higher ball speeds. The V-Motion’s overall distances were 2-3% higher when compared to the Titleist Pro V1 and Bridgestone Tour B330-S primarily due to a higher launch angle and the lower spin for all ball speeds tested. By comparison, the E-Motion showed very low spin numbers off the driver for our low ball speed test but good overall distance results due to a higher launch angle. Mid to High speed results were more middle of the range for both spin and launch angle.

6-Iron Testing:

6-iron testing across all ball speeds for both the V-Motion and E-Motion exhibited less spin and slightly longer carry distance when compared with the Pro V1, Pro V1x, and Gamer V2.

Sand Wedge Testing:

The V-Motion had notably more spin and launch angle (3-5%) for the sand wedge than the Pro V1 and Pro V1x at all ball speeds tested and slightly more spin when compared to the Nike 20XI-Sand 20XI-X. Launch angles were slightly lower across all ball speeds when compared to the Bridgestone Tour B330 and Tour B330-S as well as the Callaway HEX Black Tour. The E-Motion ball showed its major differential in the sand wedge area of testing. Very low spins and very high launch angles were observed across all ball speeds. This characteristic is found in the Top-Flite Gamer V2, Noodle Long and Soft, Titleist Velocity, and the Wilson Staff DUO.

Bench Testing:

Our bench testing indicates that the V-Motion has an overall compression reading of 109 points, which is comparable to the 2011 Titleist Pro V1x and about 10% higher than the overall compression reading of the 2011 Titleist Pro V1. The E-Motion has an overall compression reading of 99 points, which is comparable to the 2011 Titleist Pro V1. Additional bench testing measuring cover hardness revealed that the V-Motion with its urethane cover exhibited similar cover hardness to the 2011 Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x. The E-Motion exhibited a much firmer cover hardness that was among the firmest covers we have tested. The E-Motion is similar in cover hardness to the 2012 Titleist Velocity and 2010 TaylorMade Burner. We weighed both balls on the Ohaus SP402 Scout scale. The V-Motion weighed 1.6140 ounces and the E-Motion 1.6040. By comparison the Titleist Pro V1 weighs 1.6140, the Bridgestone Tour B330-S 1.611, the Callaway HEX Black Tour comes in at 1.610 and the TaylorMade Penta TP5 1.6175 and Nike 20XI-S and 20XI-X at 1.6140 as well. Note: USGA maximum weight allowance is 1.62 ounces.

DOWNLOAD COMPLETE GOLF BALL COMPRESSION & COVER HARDNESS RATINGS

On-Course Player Comments:

“The V-Motion feels softer than the new Callaway HEX Black Tour and TaylorMade Penta TP5 balls and comparable to the Titlest Pro V1 and Bridgestone Tour B330-S especially off the putter and sand wedge”. “When comparing the V-Motion to the E-Motion, I seem to get more spin and feel around the greens with the V-Motion although the E-Motion especially with the wedge seems to carry further on full wedge shots.”

“The V-Motion spins every bit as much as the Titleist Pro V1. On approach shots, the V-Motion felt like the ball was completely controllable and acted as expected upon green impact. Off my stainless steel faced putter it felt very much like a Titleist Pro V1 – it putted extremely well with a tight end over end roll”.

Summary:

Mid to High ball speed players looking for a 3 piece “tour ball” should consider the Innovex V-Motion ball. Golfers looking for distance without spin in their shorter irons might consider the E-Motion. Golfers of any ball speed should benefit from the slightly higher launch characteristics of both of these balls. Additionally both exhibited slightly more distance on all clubs on a comparative basis for the driver and 6 iron. The Innovex V-Motion should appeal to golfers of all abilities but particularly to mid to high ball speed players looking for a comprehensive ball with its softer cover hardness and consistent spin at an attractive retail price. The E-Motion golf ball should appeal to golfers looking for a slightly firmer golf ball on and around the green, with particular lower spin off the sand wedge at any ball speed.

In choosing the right golf ball, GolfBallSelector.com believes that golfers interested in the Innovex V-Motion and E-Motion should consider its “best fit” potential for their game in the context of their own preferences and the trade-offs they are prepared to take for distance, control and feel and according to their own unique ballistics measures of ball speed, launch angle and general spin rate. As with any ball, player preferences and individual launch/spin conditions are paramount. Learn more at GolfBallSelector.com, the #1 Ball Selector in Golf.

Sanford, FL – Innovex Golf (www.innovexgolf.com) and RIFE Putters (www.rifeputters.com) announced today that it’s Golf Digest Hot List Award Winning V-Motion golf balls and Island Series Putters are now available at all Edwin Watts retail locations nationwide.

Innovex Golf, recently dubbed “The Latest Titleist Killer”, in an article written by Vic Williams of Fairway + Greens Magazine, is offering two golf balls for 2012. The V-Motion, is a 3-piece premium golf ball designed for golfers who demand Tour Level performance and playability. It has a cast urethane cover for high spin along with a compensating speed core for distance. It is built to compete with the best golf balls on the market and it does. The V-Motion received a 2011 Golf Digest Hot List Award including 4 stars in the Performance and Innovation categories. The target audience of the V-motion is lower handicap golfers looking to improve their game and to reduce their costs as well as mid handicap golfers who want a better ball at a mid-price point. Retail Price at Edwin Watts will be $32.95 per dozen.

The E-Motion Tour is a 3-piece surlyn performance ball, designed with a Progressive Motion Dual Core to fly farther, spin faster, and feel softer all while offering great durability. The proprietary Aeroblend Cover features Aerocontrol parallel dimple dividers that smooth airflow for increased flight distance and stability while roll promoting dimples enhance putter feel and confidence. Innovex Golf’s engineering team has designed this ball to be the best ball for all weather conditions and to offer you a tour caliber ball with excellent durability. Retail Price at Edwin Watts will be $19.99 per dozen.

RIFE’s full line of putters for 2012 will also be available at all of the Edwin Watts retail locations including its award winning Island Series models: the Abaco, Aruba, Barbados, Cayman Brac and Trinidad, which are all recent recipients of a 2012 Golf Digest Hot List Award.

All of these Island Series putters will be available in either a Standard Silver Finish or in RIFE’s brand new Tropical Finish for 2012. This Tropical Finish is created by using a vacuum “Ti” plating process” on the head of the putter. A broad spectrum of colors emanate from this deep rich gunmetal like finish creating a “rainbow effect” depending upon how the light hits it. The new finish has other benefits aside from its eye-catching appearance. The finish prevents oxidization, increases hardness and makes the putter very wear-resistant.

“Edwin Watts is one of the premier golf retailers in the U.S.,” said Robby Hipp, Director of Development for Innovex Golf and RIFE Putters. “We’re very excited about having our full line of products available in their stores this season.”

SANFORD, FL – Editorial reviews on Innovex Golf’s E-Motion and V-Motion TOUR golf balls have been flooding in since the 2012 PGA Merchandise Show took place in Orlando, FL a few weeks ago and in one of the latest ones, written by Vic Williams, Publisher of Fairways + Greens Magazine, the balls have been dubbed “The Latest Titleist Killer”.

Williams stated in his review, “Every year seems to bring a new ball brand into play, and Fairways & Greens has tested most of them. But not until this year have we truly been impressed by a hitherto unknown ball like we have the new Innovex E-Motion ($19.95 minimum advertised price per dozen) and V-Motion ($32.95 per dozen).

Over three days in the heat of battle at PGA West and Oak Quarry in Southern California, both types of three-piece balls gave credence to the company’s assertion that they stand up to the ProV in distance, feel and ball flight. The best swings sent them sailing through the desert air on a pleasing trajectory, while even the lamest swings couldn’t completely overshadow their off-the-clubface performance. They bit on PGA West’s rock-hard greens and stayed soft off the putter.

The slightly different makeup of the balls themselves weren’t enough to cause us to prefer one over the other. They’re both excellent.”

The V-Motion Tour is a 3-piece premium ball designed for golfers who demand Tour Level performance and playability. It has a cast urethane cover for high spin along with a compensating speed core for distance. It is built to compete with the best golf balls on the market and it does. The V-Motion received a 2011 Golf Digest Hot List Award including 4 stars in the Performance and Innovation categories. The target audience of the V-motion is lower handicap golfers looking to improve their game and to reduce their costs (by as much as $15.00 per dozen at a price of $32.95 per dozen vs. Pro V1) as well as mid handicap golfers who want a better ball at a mid-price point.

The Golf Test USA 2008 ball test is complete with 80 golfers testing 13 golf balls. Golf Test USA testers
reported that the Innovex Emotion was the Best Putting ball in the test!

Innovex President Jeff Butcher says; “Our Emotion 3 piece ball performed very well against the biggest names in golf. We know that as more golfers learn about the Emotion playability sales growth will continue to surpass expectations. The $29.95 price makes the Emotion an attractive choice as compared to big name balls that cost 30% to 50% more.”

Golf Test USA test results show that the Innovex Emotion received 10% of the first place votes.

(Medina, WA) – Innovex Golf (www.innovexgolf.com) announced today that they finalized an agreement to acquire Rife Putters, LLC, formerly the #1 Putter on the Champions Tour on Friday, November 18th. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

This acquisition signals the resurrection of Rife Putters, who for the past year has struggled to manufacture and distribute product due to a lack of funding. With an influx of capital and a new management team in place, Rife Putters is determined to regain its market share and reclaim its spot as the #1 Putter on the Champions Tour.

“Innovex Golf and Rife Putters share the vision of providing Tour quality performance and playability to its customers at an exceptional value,” said Robby Hipp, Director of Development. “Rife’s reputation in the golf industry is second to none. That coupled with the recent success of the E-Motion and V-Motion golf balls from Innovex is the combination that we feel will take this company to the next level.”

The Innovex Golf and Rife Putter brands will continue to be marketed independently but cross-promotional opportunities will be offered at both the wholesale and retail levels. The company plans to operate bicoastal offices located in Medina, WA and Sanford, FL. The Rife Putter Fitting Studio will remain open at the Sanford location.

Former Chairman of Rife Putters, Jim Barfield, will be staying on with the company as the Head of Tour Operations.

About RIFE Putters

RIFE Putters, LLC is the true innovator behind horizontal grooved face putter technology with a patent on specifically sized grooves since 1997. These precisely spaced grooves allow the putter to gently press into the cover of the ball and grip and lift it into an instant forward roll. Rife Putters states, “just as grooves in irons help control spin so do grooves in a putter face.” Other companies are now trying to imitate this patented technology but the spacing of the grooves is the true key to the gripping and lifting effect of grooved face putter technology. Horizontal RollGroove™ faced putters create the truest “no skid” roll in golf no matter where you hit the ball on the putter face.

About Innovex Golf

Innovex Golf started out with one goal in mind – to design the holy grail of golf balls. After launching the new V-Motion Tour and E-Motion Tour golf balls in early 2011, it became quickly apparent that they had achieved their goal. With the V-Motion and E-Motion golf balls from Innovex Golf, Extreme Performance meets Extreme Value.

The target audience of the V-motion is lower handicap golfers looking to improve their game and to reduce their costs as well as mid handicap golfers who want a better ball at a mid-price point.
